Hi people,

Anyone there? Its been months since I last looked at this newsgroup and no
new messages have appeared! Where is everyone?

I'm thinking of starting a polyamory group on facebook.com. There is already
once called Poly People which is growing rapidly and has some great
discussions starting, its mostly americans though and as a global group its
no good for meeting people for relationships.

I propose the group 'Poly People UK', but speaking as a person who has an
interest but no experience of polyamorous relationships, I would appreciate
some suggestions and/or support.

anyone?

I have heard of facebook, but as most of my friends are already living
in Livejournal.com I have no interest in participation in (yet) another
online community.

There are poly communities in Livejournal-land which are populated, some
of them by UK people.

I don't know about facebook; as I said above, I have no experience of
nor interest in the site.

From what you have said in your first paragraph it seems to me that you
want the group just for meeting people for relationships. Have you
tried using OK-cupid for that? I haven't myself, but many poly friends
in the UK recommend it as a good accepting dating site. There are also
a *few* British people on polymatchmaker - again, I have no practical
knowledge of either of these sites, but I do know others who do.

If you have specific questions about polyamory, this is as good a place
as any to ask them. Knowledgable and experienced poly people do watch
the newsgroup and chime in when needed. :-)

Thanks nikkie! So pleased to see a response so quickly. My newsreader was
displaying old msgs first which is why it appeared this group had died out.

I will check out the sites you suggested. I realize there are a lot of other
community sites out there, and yes it can get tiresome recreating your
profile everytime a new site comes along. Facebook is the most use friendly
I've found and it has some nice features like alerts when your friends join
new groups, which helps new groups to grow very quickly as word spreads.

I'm already on LiveJournal so I'll check that out first. Really good to see
some action going on in here too - especially from people with experience.

thanks again

Chris
